About

Emily Brookfield is a ceramic artist based in Lilydale, Victoria. Emily’s work is informed by material exploration and an investigation of object interaction to create a sense of place. Our innate need to attach meaning and sentimentality to objects continues to fascinate Emily and the connection of community through clay drives her practice.

Connection To Community

Emily started her journey in a local studio at the end of 2016 as a creative outlet one day a week. She quickly left her 9 to 5 behind to volunteer her time at the studio where she developed and refined her skills and knowledge. She has since gone on to exhibit at various galleries in Australia, stocked pieces in the NGV Design Store and Craft Victoria and has completed two artist residencies in Japan.

Emily has taught pottery classes at various studios around Melbourne between 2020 and 2023. She is currently offering one on one pottery lessons from her home studio while focusing on her personal practice and remains engaged with the ceramics community through group exhibitions and other events.

Commissions and collaborations

Emily is open for commissions and collaborations. If you are interested in working with Emily or stocking her work you can get in touch here.
