Crashing into 2022 like.....
So, 2021 certainly feels like a distant dream (or maybe nightmare?) now! Seems like everyone is already full steam ahead into 2022. We’re all trying to hype ourselves up to go back to work even though we’d all rather be relaxing and spending quality time with friends and loved ones for a tiny bit longer.
I’ve been trying to ease myself back into the studio somewhat sporadically so that it’s not such a shock to the system when I am back teaching and making at full capacity again.
On that note, I have some exciting things in the works this year and I hope that you’ll all join me along the journey whether that be IRL or online. One exciting thing that’s happening for me starting next week is that I am teaching at a new space in Collingwood called Little Woods. I’ll be taking Mondays and Thursdays starting on 17th Jan for a 6 week wheel course. Book here.
I am also pleased to announce that I am taking on the role of Studio Coordinator at Warrandyte Pottery as well as teaching more classes in their beautiful space! You can find me there on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons for the 4 week intro to clay course where I show you the basics of the wheel and some tips and tricks for hand building along with Wednesday nights, Friday mornings and Friday afternoons for the 6 week wheel course. Book here.
I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with the community so I’m really excited for this new term to start! If you’ve been thinking of doing something for yourself in the creative realm I invite you to join me!
In other news
I’ve been working on an intuitive making project for the month of January where I make time each day of the month to make something – it’s usually really ugly and document the results to share with you all. It’s almost like a clay art therapy exploration and very is emotive. I talk about the themes and thoughts I have while making each piece. Have a look at some of the pieces I’ve made on my Instagram. More on the intuitive making project soon!
One more exciting piece of news…
I also have a sculptural piece in the Brunswick Street Gallery Small Works Art Prize which is now showing until 21st January. There are so many talented artists showing in this year’s prize so If you haven’t had a chance to check it out I highly recommend a visit.
One very last thing before I sign out for this entry is that I know there are a few of you hanging out for more studio setup related blog including the highly anticipated post about how to make your own plaster slab! It’s on it’s way, I promise.
